羅慧夫基金會 國際園丁計畫

我和太太目前居住在美國的密西根，和佛羅里達比較起來，這裡的天氣真的非常的冷！而且和往年比起來，今年又特別冷！或許在台灣住久了，我比較喜歡台灣溫暖的氣候,，太寒冷的天氣我一直無法適應！最近在美國中西部和奧克拉巴馬州，很反常的刮起很大的龍捲風，已經造成災害影響很多人，小時候我住在愛荷華州曾經遇過龍捲風，那會帶來很大的破壞，非常的可怕！幸運的，我目前居住的密西根沒有龍捲風。

Lucy and I are currently living in Grand Rapids Michigan. The weather here is quite cool compared to Florida. I prefer the warmer weather similar to that which you have in Taiwan. Unfortunately, this year the weather has been much colder than previously. There have also been a lot of tornadoes in the United States, particularly in the Midwest and the states of Oklahoma. This has caused a lot of this and hardships for many people. Fortunately, we had no tornadoes in Michigan. When I was a young boy living in Iowa we had tornadoes at that time. They were very destructive and scary.

在密西根有一個很大的巴金森症治療中心，我覺得在這裡可以得到很好的照顧，去年我的左腦做了手術，我的右手現在已經完全不會顫抖了，本預計今年可以接受右腦的手術以便改善左手的顫抖，可是醫生認為手術的風險很大，可能會導致已經改善的右手又會再抖動，因此決定暫時不開刀，我雖然很失望醫師的決定，可是我覺得醫師是基於對我最有利的立場做出建議，因此，我也就尊重並釋然了！我每天依照醫師的指示勤奮的進行一些復健運動，對我的聲音，還是走路的平衡都有很大的幫助，我現在能夠穩穩的走路不會跌倒。雖然罹患巴金森症，可是我還是行動自如，病症不會疼痛，也不致於影響我的活動能力，一星期約有4～5天，我會去健身俱樂部騎腳踏車和練習舉重，我希望能夠保持好的體態。總之，我覺得巴金森治療中心提供很好的服務能夠確保我得到適當的治療。

They have a large center for Parkinsonism patients here in Grand Rapids Michigan.  I feel that I am very well treated here in Michigan. The tremor in my right hand is completely gone. There was a question whether they would do the right side of my brain which controls the left-hand. They felt that the risk of surgery was too great since I had a very good response on the right side. and felt additional surgeries might result  with an increase in tremors `of the right hand. Although I was disappointed with their decision, I felt that they had the best interests in me and I therefore went along with her opinion.  I have been given some special exercises to do that will make my voice better. Also I have received instructions on how to walk so that I will not fall down. At the present time, I can get along very well and have no problem with falling. In short, although I have Parkinsonism, I do not have any significant limitation of my activities. I have no pain associated with the Parkinsonism. Every week, about four days or five days, I go to a athletic club where I exercise by riding a bicycle and lifting weights. I try to keep in good shape. In summary, the Parkinsonism center is very good and they make sure that I get the proper treatment whenever needed.

每一天我會誠心誠意的禱告，讀聖經，我感謝上帝：有這麼多很棒的人為顱顏基金會工作，以及曾經和我一起工作的醫師和護士，他們都是非常好的人；我也為顱顏患者禱告，你們帶給我很大的激勵，願上帝祝福你們！

Every day I have my devotions, and the Bible and prayers. I thank God for the wonderful people in the Craniofacial Foundation and for all the doctors and nurses that I worked with. I pray also for the patients. All of you are an inspiration for me. God bless you.
